Kwara State Police Command officers killed two alleged kidnappers.
They were confronted in the forest while attempting to split the ransom gathered from the families of two abducted victims.
The kidnappers allegedly seized Afusat Lawal (f) and her son Taofeek Lawal on Tuesday in Shao town, Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State, according to the Daily Post.
They were abducted and carried away at about 23:20 hours, according to a statement issued by the State Police Command spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi.
“The kidnappers were approached in the bush while trying to distribute the ransom received from the victims’ families; they opened fire on the operatives as soon as they were sighted,” Okasanmi stated.
“During the exchange of fire, two of the kidnappers who sustained gunshot wounds in the confrontation were apprehended and transferred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.”
“As a result, their bodies were placed in the hospital mortuary for autopsy.”
The exhibits retrieved from the kidnappers included “one Honda Accord Saloon automobile with Reg. Number LAGOS GJ 52 LSR, one single barrel gun, and an undefined quantity of money,” according to the spokesman.
He stated that efforts are still being made to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
