EXPOSED: Half Treatment Scandal Rocks Private Hospitals in Kaduna State
Gabriel Udeh, Kaduna
A shocking revelation has emerged about a disturbing trend in some private hospitals in Kaduna State, where patients are deliberately given only half of the required medical treatment, posing a significant threat to their health and well-being.
A nurse, who spoke to Public Intel on condition of anonymity, alleged that she was pressured by the medical director and proprietor of a private hospital to administer only 50% of the prescribed treatment to patients. The nurse claimed that the hospital’s management instructed her to adopt this practice to keep patients coming back for the same treatment, thereby generating more revenue.
The nurse, who quit her job due to her refusal to comply with the unethical directive, revealed that the practice, known as “Half Treatment” or “Half Dose,” is a deliberate attempt to compromise patient care for financial gain.
“I quit working in the hospital because of that. All the time, the owners would tell me to give patients half treatment so they would keep coming back for the same sickness. They said we need money, especially from influential patients,” the nurse disclosed.
Public Intel’s investigation suggests that this unethical practice may not be limited to one hospital but could be widespread in private hospitals and clinics in Kaduna State and potentially across Nigeria.
The implications of this practice are alarming, as it can lead to prolonged illnesses, increased healthcare costs, and even loss of life. The Nigerian Medical Association and relevant regulatory bodies must take immediate action to investigate and address this issue.
The public is urged to be vigilant and demand proper treatment from healthcare providers. Any suspected cases of “Half Treatment” should be reported to the relevant authorities.
As the investigation continues, Public Intel will provide updates on this developing story.
