The Nigerian Police Force’s Ebonyi State Command reported that it had detained some of the members of the illegal Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group who were responsible for the murder of its employees the previous year.
The command’s spokesperson, Chris Anyanwu, said the suspects were apprehended along Ishieke road in a yellow minibus while possibly on their way to a deadly mission in a statement given to newsmen on Tuesday in Abakaliki, the state capital.
A few armed individuals stormed the Divisional Police headquarters in Ugbodo, in the state’s Ebonyi local government area, in May 2021, according to the police spokesman, killing an Inspector and a Sergeant who were on duty.
Anyanwu claimed that the command has since sent out its tactical teams to keep tabs on the criminals’ whereabouts.
He claims that recently, on the basis of reliable information, the personnel stopped the suspects as they were traveling in an unregistered minibus.
He claimed that when the hoodlums saw the police team, they opened fire, but the men of the command disarmed the car and apprehended some of them while letting the others get away.
Anyanwu cited Chimezie Emeh, Anthony Joseph Osilame, Peter Egbunike, and Ifeanyi Emetu as some of the allegedly arrested IPOB members. Longinus Idenyi, Ogbonnaya Neankwo, H Mezie, and Eze Nnabuike are some of the others.
According to him, the command also found some automobiles, including a Toyota Corolla LE, a 2002 Toyota Camry, a Toyota Camry (Tiny Light), and a 2000 Toyota Sienna.
He said that among the 20 individuals purportedly employed by IPOB’s armed branch, Eastern Security Network (ESN), were the murderers of the police officers.
Sowore Discloses What Nnamdi Kanu Actually Desires
The besieged leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, only wants justice, according to Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress’s presidential candidate.
After seeing Kanu’s trial at the Appeal Court in Abuja, the activist and politician claimed that due to the torture inflicted on the IPOB leader, Nigeria is neither developing nor being peaceful under President Muhammadu Buhari’s rule.
The IPOB leader’s legal team was led by Mike Ozekhome, who earlier requested the court to throw out the remaining accusations because they lacked credibility.
The appeals court had earlier postponed its decision on Kanu.
The case was put on indefinite hold by the Court of Appeal in Abuja to watch the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu’s ongoing trial. At the conclusion of their arguments, his attorneys Mike Ozekhome (SAN), Aloy Ejimakor, and Ifeanyi Ejiofor, along with many others, asked the appellate judges to drop the remaining accusations against Kanu.
“It is obvious that Nigeria under the Buhari dictatorship may never experience peace, progress, and prosperity.
This is due to the unlawful imprisonment, torture, and extraordinary rendition involved in his trial.
After the court sessions, Sowore stated, “I’ve met Mazi Kanu in person and I understand him well enough to declare that what he wants is justice.
