Hajia Sadiya Faruk, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, announced this in Abuja while addressing reporters on the permission.
She added that the strategy will be multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder, with roles and responsibilities clearly defined for each stakeholder involved in flood preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery.
The Minister stated that the goal was to create Nigeria a more resilient nation, and he urged operational stakeholders, including state governments, to rigorously implement the plan in order to accomplish the desired purpose.
Hajia Sadiya Fauk also stated that the FEC has passed the National Social Investment Programme Establishment Bill, 2022, which will give the Program legal legitimacy.
Similarly, the FEC has approved the Bilateral Air Service Agreement between Nigeria and Kuwait.
The Minister of Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika, also FEC, briefed reporters on the arrangement, saying that the FEC had authorized a contract for the employment of consultants for the revalidation and collection of aviation height clearance on behalf of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
Regarding the payment of aircraft tickets in dollars, Alhaji Sirika stated that foreign airlines who refuse to accept naira payments will be sanctioned, citing a breach of the law.
“The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has been asked to act with any such airlines found flouting the regulations,” he stated.
Alhaji Umar El-Yakub, Minister of State for Works and Housing, also briefed reporters that the FEC had approved a revised estimate cost for the restoration of the Onkon-Inya-Akpaigoze route in Anambra State’s border with Enugu State.
