The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over to one Bamidele Safiriyu Olusegun a property located at 1A, Joke Ayo Street, Riverside Estate, Alagbado, Lagos, as well as a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV, a black BMW car, a black Toyota Land Cruiser car, and a white Toyota Hilux recovered from a convicted fake Army General, Bolarinwa Abiodun.
The anti-graft agency’s Lagos Zonal Command announced this in a statement made on Thursday.
It was claimed that Abiodun disguised as an Army General in order to rob Olusegun of N266,500,000.
“Upon his conviction on July 8, 2022, the trial judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, sentenced Abiodun to seven years imprisonment and ordered him to forfeit all proceeds of the offence,” the statement said.
While turning over the vehicles on Tuesday at the EFCC’s Lagos Command, Ahmed Ghali, the Lagos Zonal Commander, termed the development as a watershed moment in the battle against corruption.
He urged individuals to constantly offer information to the EFCC in order to help it fight corruption.
“At long last, justice has been served.” Criminals will not get away with their actions. The law will always come up with you, sooner or later. “It gives us great joy to see fraudsters brought to justice,” Ghali remarked.
