The Zamfara State government has instructed citizens to obtain firearms in order to defend themselves against robbers, which many perceive as an indication of a failed state.
The government also prohibited the usage of motorbikes, also known as Okada, in the state and directed security to shoot any violators on sight. Aside from that, the state has prohibited the selling of gasoline to bike operators.
