Hamisu Bala, popularly known as Wadume, was sentenced to seven years in prison together with two other individuals by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Two of the 13 counts against Wadume and two other defendants were found guilty by Justice Binta Nyako.
In addition, the court sentenced Aliyu Dadje, a police inspector who served as the station officer at the police headquarters in Taraba State’s Ibi Local Government Area, to three years in prison for falsifying records to hide a crime.
Wadume, Dadje, Auwalu Bala (also known as Omo Razor), Uba Bala (also known as Uba Delu), Bashir Waziri (also known as Baba Runs), Zubairu Abdullahi (also known as Basho), and Rayyanu Abdul are the other individuals charged alongside them.
In addition, the judge released and acquitted Omo Razor and Baba Runs due to a lack of evidence, and she sentenced Delu, Abdullahi, and Abdul to seven years in prison.
The decision of Justice Nyako was handed down on July 22 and made public to press on Sunday.
The Attorney General of the Federation presented allegations of kidnapping, murder, terrorism, and unlawful weapons against Wadume and others.
The accusations came after several soldiers killed three police officers and two civilians on August 6, 2019.
Before the military forces ambushed them on the road, the cops from the Intelligence Response Team, Abuja, had captured Wadume at Ibi.
Captain Tijjani Balarabe, Staff Sergeant David Isaiah, Sergeant Ibrahim Mohammed, Corporal Bartholomew Obanye, Private Mohammed Nura, Lance Corporal Okorozie Gideon, Corporal Marcus Michael, Lance Corporal Nvenaweimoeimi Akpagra, Staff Sergeant Abdulahi Adamu, and Private Ebele Emmanuel are the ten military officers who were previously charged with the convicts whose trials were divided for departmental reasons.
