The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended sixteen suspected online scammers in Delta State. They were apprehended in Ughelli, Delta State, on Tuesday, following a violent demonstration in the state.
On Tuesday, some Nigerian teenagers took to the streets of Ughelli to protest the actions of the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Angry demonstrators were seen obstructing traffic, burning tires, and holding banners with the hashtag ‘#EndEFCC.’
The youngsters demonstrated at the Otovwodo crossroads of the Ughelli community in the state’s Ughelli North Local Government Neighborhood, spreading fear in the area.
The youngsters alleged that the commission had wrongfully profiled them as fraudsters and arrested them without any tangible proof to back up the allegations that were quickly filed against them.
According to reports, the protest began around 11:00 a.m. Protesters apparently included accused online scammers known as Yahoo lads.
CP Ari Muhammed Ali, the state police commissioner, informed journalists on Wednesday that the arrested individuals had been sent to the state command in Asaba.
He stated that he was in Ughelli to examine the degree of the protestors’ damage and disputed that anyone was murdered by police during the incident. Police officers, he claims, are “quite professional in managing problems.”
