This is said in a joint statement published on Thursday in Gusau by NLC acting state secretary Ahmed Abubakar and TUC secretary Sani Kwotorkwoshi.
The Zamfara government, according to labor unions, has not demonstrated the necessary enthusiasm and political will to enforce the new minimum wage.
They said that the government’s negotiators were either not providing the true picture of the situation or were actively denying employees’ rights.
The NLC and TUC emphasized that the N30,000 minimum wage “must be implemented in whatever way feasible.”
Both unions stated that they had begun discussions with their respective state executive councils and key stakeholders in order to press for the introduction of the minimum wage.
The labor centers urged state workers to be patient and to continue to support and collaborate with the unions on the issue.
“Labour, on the other side, was dissatisfied with the government’s tardy handling of the N30,000 wage problem.” “Labour has consequently encouraged the government to consider the best feasible constitutional approach to implement the N30,000 in the state,” the unions added.
They asked workers to remain calm and urged the administration to continue consultations.
However, both the NLC and the TUC praised the government for its commitment to annual worker promotion and the implementation of an automatic annual salary increment system.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have expressed their dissatisfaction with the failure to implement the N30,000 minimum wage for workers in Zamfara.
