The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised voters to double-check their information on the preliminary voter register, which will be on display from August 15 to August 21.
This is stated in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja by the INEC Federal Capital Territory (FCT) office, titled “Nationwide Display of Preliminary Register of Voters.”
“The fourth quarter preliminary voter registration is being displayed at INEC local government offices across the country.” The drill will conclude on August 21.
“The publication of the register allows for claims and objections, as well as allowing the public to check and verify their voter registration status.”
“Individuals should check and confirm that their names, photos, and other facts are correct on the registry.”
“It allows the public to make a complaint about any necessary corrections to a name or facts that were wrongly placed into the preliminary register.”
INEC urged the public to raise any complaint, claim, or protest over the names omitted or included in the preliminary register.
“There is normally a time of presentation of preliminary voters register for claims and objections after Voters Registration.”
“There is also time until the final production of the Permanent Voter Card to amend problems in spelling of names, incorrectly imputed dates of birth, and other data” (PVC).
“As a result, the public is urged to attend the INEC Area Council Offices in their areas of residence for this,” it said.
