On the improper usage of police uniforms on social media, the Nigeria Police Force has issued a strong warning.
Following the suspension of two more policemen for breaking social media guidelines, this has happened.
Usman Alkali Baba, the inspector general of police, stated in a statement that only police officials are allowed to wear uniforms.
The statement said that only genuine serving members of the Nigeria Police Force were allowed to wear police uniforms on a continuous, unlawful, and unjustified basis.
“This comes shortly after two Supernumerary Police Officers were suspended for violating the Police Act of 2020 with immediate effect.
The Inspector-General of Police’s 2013 guidelines for the recruitment, promotion, and discipline of supernumerary police (SPY) were recorded on camera and uploaded by one of the officers in a popular video on August 3, 2022.
