Auta Nasela, a teacher at the Government Science Secondary School in Nasarawa Eggon, the state’s main local government area, has purportedly been killed by unidentified gunmen.
According to information obtained by Daily Trust, the event took place on Saturday at around 8:45 p.m. when the gunmen broke into the school’s grounds and went to the deceased person’s home to demand money.
Our correspondent also learned that one of the attackers shot the deceased multiple times after he fled to his neighbor’s apartment during the attack.
It was learned that Mr. Timothy Malle, another member of the school’s staff, had also been shot and was being treated at an unnamed state government hospital.
When our journalist asked about the event in Lafia, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the police public relations officer for the Nasarawa State command, acknowledged it as an armed robbery.
He stated, “GSS Nasarawa Eggon received a distress call that some unidentified hoodlums had broken into the home of one Auta Nasela. The moment they were allowed inside, they began making demands for money, but the man managed to flee to his neighbor’s home.
Sadly, one of the thugs pursued him and killed him. Police transported him to the hospital in Nasarawa Eggon, but he eventually passed away while being treated.
According to the evidence that is now available, only the late Mr. Auta was killed, not two teachers as some members of the public have claimed.
He claimed that Adesina Soyemi, the commissioner of police, has ordered a thorough inquiry into the incident in order to apprehend and prosecute the offenders.
Recall that in response to many security concerns in the Federal Capital Territory, which is close to the state, Governor Abdullahi Sule ordered the closure of all elementary and secondary schools in the state in July.
As a result, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) alerted authorities to the alleged use of child soldiers in Nasarawa State by bandits.
