Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI), Dr. Adeleke Mamora, stated that the Federal Government would address the working conditions for health professionals in Nigeria.
The minister made this comment while meeting with a delegation from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) led by its president, Dr. Uche Ojinmah, on Thursday in Abuja.
Mamora declared that the government would endeavor to raise the pay and working conditions for healthcare professionals, particularly doctors.
He argued that the flight of medical professionals, notably doctors, to other countries needed to be stopped.
He asserts that every effort will be made by the government to stop the flow of medical experts leaving the country.
Given the strategic importance of medical experts to humanity, Mamora pledged to defend their rights.
Additionally, he urged the association to uphold a high standard of ethics and conduct consistent with the profession’s oath.
The NMA’s president, Dr. Ojinmah, had earlier asked the minister to speak on their behalf at the FEC meeting in order to address some of the association’s issues, including working conditions, tools, and compensation.
