Over the weekend in Katsina State, a Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and bandit terrorists engaged in a gun battle in which no less than nine individuals were reportedly murdered.
According to information obtained by Naija News, the terrorists assaulted the neighborhood early on Sunday morning in the state’s Batsari Local Government Area.
According to reports, the terrorists rode no fewer than ten motorcycles when they entered the neighborhood. They encountered ferocious resistance from the CJTF as they attempted to carry out the horrific act.
Five of the terrorists were detained during the attack, according to a source who revealed the details to Newsmen, while nine people were slain.
He further revealed that nine out of the ten motorcycles the terrorists used to enter the community were seized by the CJTF squad.
According to the report, only one of the ten motorcycles utilized by the criminals to flee the town. It was learned that the attackers had earlier invaded the neighborhood and kidnapped some citizens.
The insider said that the civilian joint task force is at key locations nearby and said that this time, they “met their waterloo.”
However, according to Naija News, the State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has not yet made an official comment regarding the incident.
Akeredolu urges Buhari to permit Amotekun and others to carry weapons.
Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, requested last week that President Muhammadu Buhari permit the Amotekun security network and other state security organizations to carry weapons.
The South-West governor made the call, according to Naija News, during the week’s inauguration of the newly constructed office complex at the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, OSOPADEC, in Oba-Ile, Akure.
According to Akeredolu, the government should authorize Amotekun to use heavy weapons to protect the lives and property of South West residents, much as it did when non-state actors hired to protect oil pipelines in the Niger Delta region were given the right to bear arms.
The governor bemoaned the deteriorating security situation in the nation and vowed to keep fighting to protect State inhabitants.
Most individuals, including some of his coworkers, “didn’t truly grasp my perspective on the oil pipeline surveillance contract,” he claimed.
