The strike has been called off by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Allied Institutions.
According to Newsmen, the unions went on strike in March, just a few weeks after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) went on strike.
Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim, President of SSANU, told our correspondent on Saturday that the strike had been stopped for two months.
He stated that the unions took the step to allow the federal government time to execute all of the agreements agreed.
“The strike has only been halted for 60 days.” This is just to allow the federal government to fulfill all of its commitments with us. If the government fails to keep its promises, we will restart the strike in 60 days,” Comrade Ibrahim told Daily Trust.
He stated that the strike will be called off on Wednesday, August 24.
