On Monday, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia’s conflict in Ukraine is “achieving peace on our terms.”
Medvedev, a close friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin, stated that Russia would achieve its goals in the Ukraine crisis on its own terms.
Medvedev, who is currently Russia’s Security Council’s deputy head, also warned that the West has a long-term strategy to destroy Russia.
“Russia is waging an unique military operation in Ukraine to achieve peace on our terms,” he told the Russian news agency TASS.
Medvedev went on to say that the 2008 war in Georgia, NATO’s westward expansion, and the Ukraine war are all part of the US and its allies’ attempt to destroy Russia.
“The purpose is the same: to destroy Russia,” continued Medvedev.
Russia and Ukraine have been at odds since February of this year, and many casualties have already been reported.
