A kidnappers’ hideout was evicted by policemen assigned to Operation Restore Peace at Galadimawa woodland in Kaduna State‘s Giwa Local Government Area.
According to authorities, a scuffle resulted in the arrest of a suspected bandit and the recovery of two loaded firearms.
DSP Mohammed Jalige, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the raid in a statement on Saturday, adding that it took place on August 18.
He said that several of the robbers retreated into the woods with varied degrees of gunshot wounds.
“The daring operators were successful in apprehending one of the robbers, Yusuf Monore ‘M,’ 20 years old, with two AK 47/49 weapons and five rounds of live 7.62 X 39mm ammo.” Three Techno phone phones and a torchlight were also discovered,” he added.
Jalige stated that the suspect was being thoroughly investigated as operatives pursued the fleeing robbers.
He stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Yekini Ayoku, while commending the policemen who participated in the operation, advocated for strong cooperation among the state’s security services.
The CP also urged law-abiding individuals and residents of the state to remain watchful and to report any suspicious characteristics to security services as soon as possible.
