After collecting N500,000 in ransom, gunmen suspected of being kidnappers assassinated Abdulmalik Tukur, a graduate of Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, Adamawa State.
On Monday, a source close to the family told Joiurnalist in Kaduna that the boy, who completed his NYSC this year, 2022, was kidnapped with others.
According to him, the 32-year-old victim had just returned to his father’s house in Vinkilang community, on the outskirts of Yola, after completing his service year in Plateau State, when he and six others were kidnapped.
He claimed that although other victims were released after paying an N400,000 ransom, Tukur was held hostage for N5,000,000.
According to him, after several hours of negotiating, a ransom of N500,000 was agreed upon.
He claimed that the money was delivered to the bandits in their jungle.
“Unfortunately,” the insider claimed, “when the victim turned to go, they shot him, killing him instantly.”
The spokesman for the Adamawa Police Command, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, said he had yet to receive a report on the incident.
