As part of its effort to address national insecurity, the Nigerian Army has started training its officers and soldiers in map reading, combat swimming, obstacle-crossing, and firearms proficiency.
At least 60 officers from the 81 Division’s units and formations are taking part in the four-day tournament at the 35 Artillery Brigade’s shooting range in Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The drill was a component of the 2022 Inter-Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition, according to Major General Umar Musa, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division.
Gen. Musa reiterated the need for ongoing training of soldiers and officers in order to address the nation’s current security crisis.
In light of the nation’s current security challenges, Gen. Musa, represented by Brig. Gen. Shaibu Nuhu, reaffirmed the army’s commitment to prioritizing improved and qualitative training of officers and soldiers in order to achieve a high level of professionalism and adopt international best practices.
