Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Ahmad Abdulrahman, Commandant of the Police Academy College Wudil, Kano State, has urged security agencies to use the 30,000 Coalition Joint Task Force personnel in Kaduna State to combat banditry and other crimes in the state.
According to him, JTF members are formidable forces in the country’s fight against crime and other social vices.
AIG Abdulrahman made the announcement immediately after being honoured as a patron of the JTF in Kaduna State during the Unity Parade and Special Prayers event organized by the Coalition of the JTF to commemorate Nigeria’s 62nd anniversary of independence.
When he was state commissioner of police, he worked with JTF members and found them to be faithful and committed to the battle against crime, he said.
He advised the security agencies, military, and DSS combating kidnappers and bandits to deploy JTF personnel since they are trained by the State police command.
“I’m pleading with military, cops, and the DSS to utilize these men because doing so means having the backing of 30,000 men.” “I’ve tested and trust them, and if given the chance, I’ll use them again,” he stated.
He also mentioned the role Coalition JTF members performed in the 2019 general elections, when they supported other traditional security services in maintaining law and order throughout the state.
In his remarks, Coalition JTF State Chairman Engineer Shehu Usman Dan Tudu stated that the Unity Parade was organised to create synergy and cordial ties among diverse groups in the state that provide voluntary security services.
According to him, as members of the Coalition JTF, they are just aiding police in combating crime in their neighborhoods through community policing.
He asked the government and other groups to provide the group with equipment that would allow them to do their jobs conscientiously.
