The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the 3rd, in honor of the International Day of Peace 2022, stated that no religion can supplant another in Nigeria since God, who created the many religions in Nigeria, did not make a mistake.

Rather, Sultan Abubakar stated that followers of all religions should learn to coexist and recognize that we all worship the same God.

The Sultan stated as a Special Guest of Honour at the National Secondary Schools Security Awareness Programme in Abuja, which was organized by the Alumni Association of the National Defence College (AANDEC) in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and the UFUK Foundation. Peace does not imply the absence of fighting. Peace is nothing more than the absence of Justice.

“In Nigeria, you cannot eradicate any religion because God, who created us, created different religions and brought us together.” Peace is critical for our nation’s prosperity and development; thus, we must not allow religion to separate us.”

Concerning the actions of bandits and terrorists that are posing security challenges in the country, the Sultan stated that these undesirable elements of society and their antecedents may be traced back to poor parenting and poor fatherhood.

He stated that Nigerian society, like any other society, has both good and bad individuals, and that the good outnumber the evil; thus, the good people, who are clearly in the majority, should rise up against the bad ones, who are in the minority.

“Mentoring young people who are future leaders remains a vital component of peace in the household and society at large,” he said. Parents should begin mentoring their children at home because if there is peace at home, there should be peace outside.

“So you must first achieve peace at home since everything begins there.” Your mother has been your first instructor since the day you were born. They bring you out, remove the umbilical chord and whatever else is attached to you, clean you up, and dress you up.

“The mother is in charge of you from the moment you start running and working, and maybe until they die.”

Your mother is your first teacher and the most essential member of your family.

“If you have a wonderful household, look for who the mother is; if you have a horrible home, look for who the mother is,” she says, explaining why moms are so crucial in our lives.

“Look at the backdrop if you have nasty kids roaming around with firearms, killing people, kidnapping, ransoming, or anything.”

Dr. Dere Awosika, Chairman of Access Bank and keynote speaker at the event, cited Peace, Progress, and Civic Responsibility as crucial characteristics that young, particularly students, should absorb in order to transform the world.

“Civic Responsibility comprises your involvement in action and participation in activities that bring to a better society, with education as the foundation,” she explained. This is because when you are knowledgeable, you are more likely to perform duties for the greater good.

“You should be loyal to God and loyal to your nation.” According to our country’s Coat of Arms and national flag, Nigeria’s unity impacts its growth. Your trust in Nigeria influences its progress. As a result, a mix of togetherness and religion brings about peace in Nigeria.”

Dr. Awosika continued, “Your perspective has to change from what you hear to concentrating on and observing the norms and laws of Nigeria.” Be an excellent student, and work together with others to build a peaceful and progressive community.

“You have a right to life, and the right to live is for everybody,” she added of children’s rights. You are entitled to equity. Being fair implies that you have a right to be educated about what is good, what you should do, and what you should avoid doing. Follow the rules. The right to dignity The freedom to worship. It is your right to privacy and personal liberty.”

Brigadier General AG Laka, a representative of the National Security Adviser, praised AANDEC for beginning the awareness campaign, saying that “it is highly suitable, especially given the myriads of dangers in places where youngsters are the most susceptible targets.”

“Youths are particularly vulnerable in a danger environment.” Youths’ lack of awareness makes them easy target. Online recruitment should be avoided by young people in particular. So be cautious of who you engage with online,” he said.

Over 400 students from 15 Secondary Schools in the FCT took part in the event, which was conducted at Nigerian Tulip International College.
