Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has directed that the proprietor of a filling station in Port Harcourt that was recently sealed be identified and arrested for allegedly trafficking in illegally refined petroleum products.
Governor Wike issued the command at a flag-off ceremony for the development of an internal road network in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
Although the Governor did not name the owner of the shuttered feeling station, a current Member of the House of Representatives, Chinyere Igwe, has stated that the filling station in Port Harcourt’s Diobu Area belongs to him.
He said that the action, carried out by what he characterized as police officers from the Rivers State Government House, was politically motivated due to his affiliation with the Rivers State camp of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Two additional pro-Atiku MPs’ hotels and bars have also been shut.
On Saturday, Wike said the state has spent a lot of money battling the actions of economic saboteurs and would not back down now, regardless of anyone’s socioeconomic standing or political leanings.
He swore to use all of his power against everyone who had benefited from the state and to collaborate with the state’s opponents.
The Governor advised such individuals to comprehend President Vladimir Putin’s and his friends’ Russian politics, particularly how anyone who breaches a contract is dealt.
He shouted an angry warning to his erstwhile supporters who, together with him, orchestrated the ouster of a Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman, but are now planning meetings with the said former National Chairman in Abuja.
Wike also advised the state’s present PDP National Assembly candidates not to take the people’s votes for granted, claiming that anything is possible before the election.
