The Police Command in Osun stated on Saturday that Mrs Kafayat Oyetola’s convoy, the wife of Osun Governor, was assaulted by hoodlums on Friday near Owode in Ede.
One security worker in the convoy was hurt, according to Osun Police Spokesperson SP Yemisi Opalola.
Police apprehended five people in connection with the crime, he said.
“On Friday, about 8:30 p.m., the police got reliable information that some hoodlums were targeting the convoy of Osun Governor’s wife near Owode, Ede Market expressway.”
“The Divisional Police Officer ‘A’ Division, Ede, quickly mobilised and led investigators to the area, where they met CSP Dauda Ismail, the Chief Security Officer to Osun Governor Gboyega Oyetola.”
“CSP Ismail informed the team that one Omolola Opeyemi, a driver from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State, drove an unlicensed truck and obstructed Oyetola’s passage.”
“As a result of the traffic jam, some hoodlums took advantage and began stoning the governor’s wife’s convoy, hurting the truck driver on his forehead and injuring a DSS member.”
“However, five people were apprehended at the spot, and an investigation is ongoing.”
“Further information will be shared later.” According to Opalola.
