The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has arrested Haruna Mohammed, 20, for allegedly raping and impregnating a 13-year-old girl along the Line Kaji Street in the state’s Lafia Local Government Area.
The agency also stated that it had captured two more suspects for allegedly raping and defiling another 13-year-old girl in the state, Ramatu Dahiru.
The State Commandant, Abbas Bappa-Muhammed, who spoke via the Public Relations Officer, DSC Jerry Victor, while parading the suspects at the NSCDC headquarters in Lafia, said the suspects were apprehended in various places throughout the state.
“The accused; Haruna Abdullahi, 39, belongs from Tudun Kofa in Lafia and Dauda Muhammed, 35, also hails from Dawakin Local Government area of Kano state, but stays in Tudun Kofa, Lafia Nasarawa state, admitted to raped Ramatu Dahiru, 13-year-old at his residence, in Tudun Kofa Lafia,” he
The defendant, Dauda Mohammed, who raped the teenager, is also a friend of the victim’s father, according to the PRO.
In an interview with Daily Trust, the victim, Ramatu Dahiru, described her trauma, saying Dauda Mohammed summoned her to his home with the intention of sending her on an errand.
“I was at ease since Dauda Mohammed is a friend of my father’s.” “I wouldn’t have gone there if I had known he had a nasty plan for me,” the victim bemoaned.
The command’s public relations officer stated that all suspects will be punished and prosecuted as a deterrence to others.
He also advised parents and guardians to always watch their children’s and wards’ movements, as he asked inhabitants of the state to be security alert and report any suspicious movement in and around their neighborhood to any security authorities nearest to them.
In a conversation with our journalist immediately after his arrest, the suspect admitted to the crime and promised to marry the minor girl.
